Every year that Union College has a graduation I get depressed. Why? Cause I'm a selfish person. I want the students that I have grown to love over the years to stay here forever. But that is not how it works and the years go by with blinding speed. Today's graduation was exceptionally bittersweet. LTP lost it's only staff member. Dr. Smith took part in his last graduation at Union. Pictures two and three are Dr. Smith receiving the board of trustee's award. You could tell he was choked up.
I guess at the end of the day this is why I work at Union. For days like this. When we see how well the students have done after years of hard work. This is the goal and destination for every student who enrolls at Union. Pictures eight, nine, and ten are of a young lady who has been at Union for many years. She is blind. Today she graduated. She walked across the stage and got her diploma from Dr. Smith. Through out the last few years I have seen this girl around campus walking around with her cain. She knows every crack of the sidewalks of Union College. You would not be able to find a sweeter girl then her. When Dr. Smith leaned over and told her that everyone was giving her a standing ovation she cried. Everyone was so proud of her. This goal that the students achieved today has been their destination in education for sixteen years. But if it wasn't for the journey the final destination wouldn't be so wonderful and bittersweet. I will miss the students in the class of 2011. I can't wait to see you on down the road.

Richard, I remember when you told me that LTP would be my connection to UC and I don't think you knew how true that would really be. :) If it wasn't for Union College Enrollment Services (aka Big Rich and T-Juice) I wouldn't know any UC gossip or get to peek in on the really great moments of Union.
The thing about Hannah really made me tear up.
Also, how did you marry Natalie? She's freaking gorgeous. my word.
Speaking of gorgeous, those dang Cosentino's, man.
Then there is Enoc who makes the same face in every picture. But so do I, so I can't hate.
Thanks for keeping us all up-to-date on the hottest gossip in Lincoln.
you got me crying at work maing. i love UC too. but like you, i hate when good things end. i cried when Cheers ended and I hardly watched that show.
This was a great post, Rich. Rarely is LTP reflective and sappy, but this post was - in a classy way. I'm proud of you.
