Orange beats Purple in a tale of two halves.

There was a lot of build up to Orange's first game of the season.  I would say that Orange didn't live up to the hype...and then it did.  Power Rankings mean absolutely nothing, but because of the popularity of the LTP P Rankings Orange came into this game favored by a few points.
Let's start in the first half.  Purple came out and scored the first 11 points.  Let's give purple some credit.  They are a tough matchup for most of the teams in this league.  They have the tallest front line and these guys can play.  Kody and Curt had their way with the defense in the first half drawing many fouls and hitting about twelve free throws.  Purple had 21 points in the first half.  That isn't exactly burning the nets up but it helps when the other team scores 6 points...that's right 6.  I forget if there were one or two field goals in the first half for Orange but let's just say that they couldn't throw it in the ocean standing on the beach.  Purple had come out in a 1-3-1 zone and that left Orange with many open shots.  They just weren't going in.  It seemed like Orange had decided that the paint was hot lava and they didn't want to go anywhere near it.  I think getting into the lane against Purple might be easier said then done.  They do have some guys in there that can block shots.  I asked Richard what he told his team at half time (third person) and he told me this "I told them that this game doesn't matter but we are playing it so we might as well win it.  I thought it was important to keep playing and that we were only a few stops from being back in it.  I thought it was important that we stay composed and keep playing hard".  That reminds me of this:

The second half was a completely different story.  Chris Fairchild hit a big three and the Orange team finally got out on the fast break.  The Orange defense played much smarter and they were able to get some rebounds.  It also helped that team captain got back from his busy job flipping burgers at Village Inn (I don't know where he works).  The pressure switched to Purple playing to not throw away a 15 point lead.  With under a minute left Thomas made the defensive play of the game stealing the ball and driving down for the go ahead bucket.  On the next possession Kody took a tough shot and Micah then got the rebound and iced the game by making two free throws.  There are a few things that you can take away from this game.  First off what is more impressive?  How Purple came out and dominated a team in the first half that was supposed be better?  Or how Orange came back and won the game?  I would say that Purple is better then people have thought and that Orange is struggling because they have never played with each other.  Orange might lose a few games trying to figure out how to play with each other and Purple might be a team that come playoffs no one will want to face.
