What a great year.

I am going to remember this season for a long time.  Everything feels good about it.  Sure we didn't win tonight.  But the journey was incredible.  We played on the last night of the season and lost to the best team this year.  Nothing hurts more then falling short of expectations and not living up to potential.  But when a team uses every amount of the potential they have and comes up short you can be proud of that.  Here are my thoughts on the final game.

  • All day I was thinking about what are chances were.  I decided that we had probably a 30% chance of winning.
  • All year long I wanted Thomas Robinson to be the player of the year.  Anthony Davis is in a different league.  I am glad he won't be in college basketball anymore.  I will pull for him in the NBA.
  • I welled up a little when I saw Thomas leaving the court with tears in his eyes.  He will go down as one of my favorite Jayhawks joining Hinrich and Sherron.
  • Bill Self has to be my favorite person in all of sports.  My Mt Rushmore of active sports figures is Bill Self, Jamal Charles, Alex Gordon, and Chavez Morris.
  • I remember bits of pieces of seasons from this season I will remember the Maui invitational, the first Baylor game, both amazing Mizzou games, and the incredible run in the tournament.
  • I can't help but not like John Calipari.  I don't think I need to have a huge explanation for it.  There is no rule that says that I have to like him.  I think he is probably ruining college basketball.  I hope he goes to the Knicks.
  • Eight straight Big 12 titles.  Most wins in last 6 years.  Final Four.  Championship game.  Down year.
  • When the Jayhawks go to the final four Natalie makes Deviled Eggs and Guacamole...which is nice.
  • Royals Season!!!
