Tonight was a very emotional night at Union College. We said goodbye to our President of the last 13 years. We are very excited about where the Lord is taking his ministry but we are also sad because we know we will miss his leadership. This is a picture of the prayer at the end of the program. Everyone who was there gathered around Dr. Smith and his wife and had a prayer of consecration for him.
I do not have a ton of stories about Dr. Smith when I was a student. But in the last few years we have been able to have some very good conversations about leadership. It meant alot to me that he had confidence in me even though I am very young. He had the kind of leadership that showed you that he cared about you on a personal level. The way he interacted with me left me with a feeling that I never wanted to let him down. As I shook his hand tonight he was still lifting me up and letting me know that he believes in me. I just wanted to let him know that I am thankful for the leadership and good example he has provided here at Union for the last 13 years.

I hate to see him go.
Now we need to start praying that the Lord send Union a godly person to lead our school.
